Dr. Malik Mohammad Al-Wardy is the Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station at the College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences. He is a soil scientist who obtained his Ph.D. degree from Cornell University, New York, in 2002. His current research interests vary from using remote sensing techniques and satellite/aerial imagery to study the causes and impact of land degradation on vegetation cover and habitats, impact of climate change and extreme events on soil erosion and degradation, water resources management, to the effect of sewage sludge on soil chemical properties in arid regions. Malik signed a four-year project in 2013 with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs for the Mapping, Monitoring, and Mitigation of Land Degradation in Oman.
